Sidecall

Sidecall records a meeting on your iPhone and coaches you while it is still going. Put the phone on the table for a meeting in the room, or next to a phone call on speaker. It records through the microphone, so a call has to be on speaker for Sidecall to hear it. The audio streams to your own Calldeck hub, and the hub sends back a live transcript and coaching.

Before you start, give the call a name if you want one and type the names of the people in the room. The hub uses them to tell who is speaking. If you are only listening, turn on the switch on the Record screen and no line will be marked as yours. The Record screen shows whose calls the recording goes into. If you belong to a room on the hub, shared with your team or a partner, you can put the call there instead. Recording carries on when the screen locks.

The Coach screen shows one thing at a time. Most often that is the best next question. It can also be a line to say, or a risk with the reason under it. A turning point in the conversation goes at the top when there is one. Under the main line sit the top risk and the next question. Along the bottom is a row of suggested questions. Tap one and the answer opens in a sheet.

The Transcript screen shows who said what. Your own lines are picked out, and the line still being heard is marked until it settles. It stays pinned to the newest line unless you scroll up to read back.

Ask is a typed question about the call in front of you. What did they commit to? What haven't we covered? What should I say about price? A quick answer comes from the transcript in a few seconds. There is a switch for a deeper answer, which takes longer because the hub looks things up.

If the connection drops in the middle of a meeting, the phone keeps recording and tries to reconnect for up to ten minutes. When the call ends it sends the hub the whole recording and tells you what happened.

After the call, the Calls screen keeps every session. Open one for the summary, the decisions and action items, how much each person talked, the notable quotes, and the full transcript. Swipe a finished call to delete it.

Press play on a finished call and the recording plays under a waveform that shows who talked when, one row per person in their own colour, with the chapters ticked along it. Decisions, action items, quotes and turning points sit beneath it as cards. Tap one and the call plays from two seconds before it. Tap any line of the transcript to play from there, or search the transcript for a phrase. Speed goes to 2.5x and the voices keep their pitch. Skip silence jumps the pauses and counts the time it saved. A small player stays on every tab while a call is loaded, and the lock screen has the controls. A moment can be shared as a clip with its words.

Sidecall needs a Calldeck hub. Connect once with the hub address and a Cloudflare Access service token, then sign in with Apple. What you record is yours alone on the hub unless you put a call in a room. The Profile screen holds your name and the sentence or two the coach reads about you before every call. Sign out from the Connect screen and the phone forgets your calls, recordings and sign-in; the hub keeps your calls. Delete account, on the Profile screen, revokes your sign-in on the hub, removes your profile and voice files, and archives your calls. The audio and transcripts go only to the hub you set up.
