User Reviews
As an educator, I feel obligated to speak on the experience one of my students recently had with this facility because the situation raises serious concerns about fairness, professionalism, and how people are treated when assumptions are made before facts are fully understood.
This student is someone I know as hardworking, respectful, and committed to improving his future. He is balancing college, fatherhood, athletics, and personal growth all at once. He originally joined this facility simply to work on his basketball skills and maintain a positive outlet. After paying for court time without issue during his first visit, he later purchased a membership because he intended to consistently support the business and was even discussing possible future weekly sessions through the school.
From my understanding, the conflict began when another individual brought additional players and falsely claimed the court had already been paid for. My student believed the arrangements had been handled based on what he was told and even communicated that people should not be playing if payment had not been made. Despite this, he was ultimately blamed for the entire situation, had his membership revoked, and was not given what appeared to be a fair or balanced opportunity to explain himself before action was taken against him.
What concerns me most is not simply the misunderstanding itself, but how quickly he appears to have been judged and associated with the actions of others without proper consideration of his individual role. As a Black student, he expressed feeling singled out, stereotyped, and unfairly targeted throughout the process. Whether intentional or not, when someone consistently feels unheard while assumptions are made about their character and intentions, that reflects a deeper issue that businesses should take seriously.
I also understand that he occasionally brought his young children because he is a single father without consistent childcare. From everything described to me, the children were respectful and simply sat quietly while he trained. Rather than receiving understanding as someone balancing school, parenting, and self-improvement, he instead left feeling unwelcome and viewed as a problem.
As educators, we encourage young people to place themselves in environments that promote discipline, growth, and opportunity. We encourage them to build relationships in their communities, stay focused, and invest their time into productive activities. It is deeply disappointing when a student who was actively trying to do those things walks away feeling judged rather than supported.
Although the membership was eventually refunded, the response still appeared to focus solely on rule violations while overlooking the larger concern: that this student repeatedly explained he had been misled by someone else and still felt unfairly blamed from beginning to end. Situations involving misunderstandings require communication, fairness, and professionalism — especially before serious decisions are made about someone’s character.
I sincerely hope management reflects on this experience and understands the impact that prejudice, assumptions, and unequal treatment can have on people who genuinely came with positive intentions. Every customer deserves to be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.
