TBoard: Letterboard AAC Typing

TBoard is a typing-first AAC app for people who communicate by selecting letters, spelling words, or typing complete thoughts. Use an apraxia-friendly letterboard—or a board you build yourself—to say what you want to say, then speak it aloud in a voice you choose.

The full AAC experience is designed for landscape iPad. On iPhone, TBoard provides Messaging Lite so invited circle members can stay connected; letterboards, lessons, Practice, Stats, and subscriptions are available in the tablet experience.

TBoard is built for the person communicating—and for the parents, family members, and practitioners beside them. The app carries the mechanics of a session—presenting each step, keeping up with the spelling, swapping boards, returning the board to a ready state—so you can stay focused on the person, not the process.

COMMUNICATE

• The full 26-letter board, 3-stencil, QWERTY, and number layouts—big, steady keys designed for communicators with apraxia or motor differences.
• Choose how the board responds: On Touch can register a key the moment a finger lands, visual confirmation shows what was accepted, and optional spoken or haptic feedback can reinforce every selection. Tap Guard can ignore rapid repeat touches so an accidental double-tap does not type twice.
• Build your own boards in the Board Builder with icons, labels, and your own photos.
• Speak letters, words, or completed thoughts aloud with text-to-speech. Choose compatible system voices, including Personal Voice on supported Apple devices.
• Keep important phrases and writing in the Scrapbook.

LEARN AND PRACTICE

• Three new lessons every day—one for each difficulty tier, already formatted the way a spelling session should flow. Read together, then answer questions, spelling, and math right on the board.
• TBoard keeps up so you don't have to: every answer is checked in real time as it's spelled, and the board can swap and reset for you—use as much or as little support as your session needs.
• Turn your own material into lessons—type it, paste it, or import a text file, PDF, or photo. Text recognition happens on your device, and you review everything before saving.
• Warm up with Practice—short, simple rounds between lessons that keep things moving on their own, adding help when the typing gets difficult. Build My Prompts sets from your communicator's own world.
• See progress you can trust: lesson activity, first-try answers, hints, retries, and per-letter accuracy.

FREE AND PREMIUM

Core communication is free: the boards, text-to-speech, two custom boards, and the Scrapbook. Premium adds daily lessons, lesson creation, Practice, saved session activity and per-letter accuracy, the private circle, ten premium offline voices, and unlimited custom boards and communicator profiles.

Every new account starts with a 14-day, app-managed Premium trial. One subscription unlocks Premium for every communicator profile in the account, and invited family members and practitioners never need their own. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through your App Store account settings.

PRIVACY BY DESIGN

TBoard has no ads and does not track you across apps or websites. Usage and crash diagnostics are off until you opt in. Photos and documents you import to create lessons stay on your device—only the lesson text you approve is saved to your account. Signed-in profile data—including created lesson text, saved phrases, custom boards and their photos, settings, progress, and private messages—is backed up so it can be restored, and you can delete your account and its data from inside the app.
