Baton is a coordination and timing tool designed for teams participating in multi-leg relay races. It provides a shared dashboard for runners to synchronize their progress, record handoffs, and view updated estimates for future legs throughout the event.

Capabilities:

• Shared Timing Dashboard: Provides a live feed for all team members showing completed, active, and upcoming legs.
• Automatic Re-estimation: When a handoff (split) is recorded, the app automatically re-calculates estimated start and finish times for all remaining legs based on the actual progress.
• Elevation-Adjusted Pacing: Uses an "adjusted mileage" algorithm that accounts for elevation gain and loss to provide more accurate arrival estimates than distance-only calculations.
• Offline Support: Allows users to record baton passes in areas with poor cellular service. Data is saved locally and synchronized to the cloud once a connection is restored.
• Simple Team Entry: Participants can join an existing team via a 6-character room code. No account creation is required to participate in a race.
• Runner Assignments: Tools for organizers to assign specific runners to legs and set expected flat paces for more accurate initial planning.
• Performance Tracking: View individual runner statistics, including pace analysis and time deltas (ahead/behind schedule) for each leg.
