You can manage your subscriptions in App Store account settings after purchase, including turning off auto-renewal.

Canceling Subscriptions: To cancel, go to Settings > iTunes & App Store > tap your Apple ID > View Apple ID > Account Settings > Subscriptions > select and cancel. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the subscription period, the subscription will not auto-renew.
