About the game

Damdas 16 batu has been played in Betawi neighborhoods for generations — kids drawing the board in the dirt, picking up stones, and challenging whoever was around. The rules sit somewhere between checkers and dam-daman, with a board pattern that's unique to Indonesia.

How to play • Each player starts with 16 stones • Move one step along the board's lines • Jump over an opponent's stone to capture it • Chain captures in a single turn • If your opponent misses a capture, call "DAM!" — they lose 3 stones • Win when your opponent has no stones left
