This updater will fail if you don’t do the following order. Download this app, allow to install etc. Then close all out your apps. Restart your phone and guitar. Allow guitar to boot and ensure updater is the only app open on your phone. Connect to guitar, then update. This took wayyyyy too long for me to figure out.

As other reviewers mentioned, the update failed. I tried it a second time and sat next to the guitar during the update, pushing in one of the knobs every couple minutes to keep it awake. I also set my phone to not auto-lock. Update completed successfully. It was actually worth the minor inconvenience. You get ten pre-recorded loops that you can practice or play along with. I’ve always been happy with Yamaha’s products. I’m sure this app will eventually get a fix so it will work properly without the extra help.
