Koko Run & Walk is a free, ad-free app for solo recording and optional real-time location sharing.

For solo use, create a session key, keep it private, and start recording. Your route can be viewed, saved, trimmed, and exported.

To use it with others, share an 8-character key, QR code, or join link. People recording with the same key can see one another’s locations and routes.

For runs, walks, marathons, trails, hikes, skiing, team practice, and events.

■ SOLO OR TOGETHER

There is no separate solo mode: keep your key private to record only yourself, or share it to use the live map.

Sharing starts only when each user taps Start Recording. Creating a key, showing a QR code, or saving a group does not start sharing.

■ SESSIONS AND GROUPS

Sessions are for one-time activities. Their locations and routes are generally deleted after three days.

Save up to three reusable group keys on your device for family, teams, or regular companions. A group key remains available until its creator ends it, but recorded locations and routes are still generally deleted after three days. Groups have no friend requests, approvals, or direct messages.

■ LIVE MAP AND VOICE

• Show locations, routes, and last update times • Color-code routes and follow a participant • Choose updates of about 10 or 30 seconds • Record in the background or with the screen locked • Automatically stop after 24 hours • Hear the time, GPS status, and distance to up to three people

Voice intervals are adjustable. Time and GPS announcements also work solo. Accuracy and timing vary with GPS, device, OS, and network.

■ WEATHER AND LOCATION NOTES

The Home screen shows local weather, temperature, humidity, wind, forecasts for the next one to five hours, a nearby map, and a weather-based message. Weather data: Open-Meteo.

Press and hold the map to share a note, such as a meeting point or water station. Only its creator can delete it.

■ RECORD LIBRARY

Save up to five solo or shared records.

• Add from history, a session key, or GPX/KML • View map thumbnails, dates, distances, and durations • Display saved participant routes • Replay an activity in about 30 seconds • Pause, resume, trim, rename, or delete • Export as GPX or KML

■ MAP CACHE AND SATELLITE CONNECTIONS

Up to about 30 MB of map tiles is cached. Offline or supported satellite connections show cached maps only and use less frequent updates. Availability depends on the device, OS, carrier, plan, and environment.

■ HOW TO USE

1. Sign in with Apple or Google.
2. Create, enter, or scan a key.
3. Set the key, nickname, and update interval.
4. Tap Start Recording.

Precise location permission is required. Keep the key private for solo use, or share it with others.

■ LOCATION AND DATA

• Location is collected and shared only while recording; Stop Recording stops both. • Temporary locations, routes, and latest participant locations are generally deleted after three days. • Reusable group keys do not extend location-data retention. • Participants mainly see nicknames, locations, and routes. • Email addresses and Firebase user IDs are not exposed in participant screens or current participant APIs. • Library records are accessible only to the authenticated owner. • Saved records may be deleted after over 180 days without confirmed app use. • Accounts can be deleted in the app.
