Say what you will do. Keep the record that you did.
I WILL is a free accountability app for people in recovery and the people who show up with them. You check in, the people you chose see it, and the record stays.
CHECK IN
Write a line about your day, and add a photo if you want to. Check-ins are appended, never rewritten. Remove one and the record shows that it was removed.
PRIVATE CIRCLES
Start a circle for the handful of people who should see your check-ins. A sponsor, family, a home group, three friends. Members post, react and message inside it, and only its current members can read what is posted there. The one exception is yours to make: if you tick "Also post to personal profile" on a circle check-in, that check-in also appears on your profile page, which anyone with the link can open.
GOALS
Name something you are working toward, break it into milestones, and watch the day grid fill in as you show up. Miss a day and it stays a gap. Nothing is deleted. A streak counter is there if you want one, off by default; leave it off and there is nothing to reset.
FIND A MEETING
Search tens of thousands of in-person AA meetings near a place, filtered by day, format and distance. Listings come from public directories, so coverage is uneven and some cities are thin.
ATTENDANCE RECORDS
Check in when you arrive at a meeting and out when you leave. That produces a record with real timestamps, and a link you can share if you choose to.
CHALLENGES
Join a shared challenge and post proof as you go, alongside other people doing the same one. Free to join.
WHAT IT DOESN'T DO
Some of this is a deliberate design choice and some of it simply is not built yet. Both are worth saying out loud, because an accountability app that hides its edges is not one.
No streak you have to keep. Missing a day takes nothing away and tells nobody.
No public failure. There is no wall of who fell off, and no notification telling your circle that you didn't check in.
No punishment for falling behind. Challenges and creator pages do have leaderboards, ranked on things like check-ins and completions. Sliding down one costs you nothing. No penalty, no strike, and nothing taken away.
Nothing to buy. No subscription, no in-app purchase, no paid tier.
No advertising, and your personal data is not sold.
No AI writing for you. A check-in is yours, in your words. Text and images are screened automatically for safety. If you record a proof video, a single frame is sampled from it and that frame is what gets screened; the video itself is not sent. That is the extent of it.
SIGNING IN
Use an email address or Apple, or continue anonymously and pick any display name. An anonymous account is tied to the device you made it on, so it may not be recoverable if you lose that device.
ON COURT-ORDERED ATTENDANCE
You can share your own attendance records with anyone you choose, and those records carry real timestamps. But I WILL is not a compliance or court-reporting system. It has no program or officer accounts, and it does not verify anyone's identity on behalf of a third party.
I WILL is not treatment and is not a substitute for it. It is not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous or with any meeting or intergroup listed in the app.
