Studio dBA & SPL Calibration
v2.0 is here. New spectrum analyser. New noise dosimeter. Calibrated dBA you can trust at a gig, a building site, or in your studio. Privacy first. Nothing recorded.
Real-time decibel readings for real ears. Decibel Meter turns your iPhone into a calibrated dBA sound level meter that audio engineers, musicians, site workers, and parents worried about their kids' hearing can actually trust.
Open the app. The animated gauge moves with the room. Green for quiet. Yellow when you reach conversation. Red when sound levels start damaging hearing. You see the number, the colour, and the trend at the same time.
This is a v2.0 rebuild. Every screen redrawn. New spectrum analyser. New noise dosimeter. Full calibration workflow. Built for people who know what dBA means and built so people who do not will still get a useful answer in three seconds.

REFERENCES
Built-in noise reference guide from whisper at 30 dB to jet engine at 140 dB
NIOSH hearing-loss exposure chart
OSHA permissible exposure limits
WHO THIS IS FOR
Audio engineers checking room tone, monitor levels, and mix decisions
Musicians and producers calibrating studio listening volume
Live sound engineers verifying FOH and stage levels at gigs and rehearsals
Construction, manufacturing, and trade workers monitoring workplace noise
Parents, teachers, and event organisers protecting hearing in shared spaces
DIY enthusiasts comparing appliances, boilers, vehicles, and quiet test environments
CALIBRATION YOU CAN TRUST
The iPhone microphone is excellent. It is not laboratory grade. We give you a one-tap calibration workflow so you can offset your readings against a known reference. Without calibration we still produce useful relative numbers. With calibration you produce numbers you can stand behind in a noise complaint, an exposure log, or a mix session.
PRIVACY FIRST
Audio is analysed on device in real time. Nothing is recorded. Nothing leaves your iPhone. The microphone stops the moment you close the screen.
NO ACCOUNT, NO TRACKING
You never sign in. We never ask for an email. We never see your sound.
PROFESSIONAL ACCURACY NOTE
This app is a tool for monitoring and education. For HSE enforcement, occupational noise compliance, or medical hearing assessment, use a Type 1 or Type 2 certified sound level meter operated by a qualified professional.
Open the app. See the number. Know what it means.
