Brotider: Swedish bridges

Check before you drive. Brotider shows whether you can cross the bridge right now, with live status instead of guesswork. Hisingsbron in Gothenburg and Mälarbron in Södertälje are live.

BRIDGE STATUS While the app is open, it checks each bridge’s status every 30 seconds. Green means road traffic can pass, red means the road is closed, and yellow means the bridge is about to open. If live status is unavailable, Brotider tells you clearly instead of showing information that could be inaccurate.

CHOOSE WHEN YOU WANT NOTIFICATIONS Choose when you want notifications. While driving or cycling, alerts use Hisingsbron’s Live Activity. Outside travel, ordinary push notifications can report changes for your selected bridges while the app is closed. Delivery depends on connectivity and iOS. You can also set quiet hours when you don’t want to be disturbed and receive reminders before scheduled bridge openings.

BRIDGE OPENING TIMES AND COUNTDOWN For Hisingsbron, see today’s and tomorrow’s scheduled opening windows, which one is next, and a countdown in minutes and seconds until possible passage. A scheduled opening window means the bridge may open, not that the road is already closed.

LIVE ACTIVITY WHILE TRAVELLING Brotider can start a Live Activity for Hisingsbron on your Lock Screen and in Dynamic Island when you approach by car or bicycle. iOS controls automatic background starts. Mälarbron does not have a Live Activity. Choose between driving or cycling, always on, or specific times. With location access set to Always, the Live Activity can start even when your phone is locked.

HOME SCREEN WIDGET A small Home Screen widget shows whether the bridge is open to road traffic, regardless of which notification mode you’ve selected.

MAP WITH TRAFFIC LAYERS Enable traffic flow, traffic incidents, and road condition data from the Swedish Transport Administration. This helps you see whether it’s worth taking another route instead of waiting at the bridge. These layers are turned off by default, and data is only retrieved when you enable them.

BOAT MODE FOR WATERWAY TRAFFIC Passing under the bridge by boat? Turn on Boat Mode to see the status of the waterway instead of road traffic, together with messages from the bridge operator.

FAVOURITES AND FILTERS Save the bridges you care about and filter the list by all, favourites, or active bridges. Hisingsbron and Mälarbron remain visible without location access and outside Sweden. With location access, they are sorted by distance.

CURRENT COVERAGE Hisingsbron in Gothenburg and Mälarbron in Södertälje have live status. We only add a bridge when the source data is reliable enough. Missing a bridge? Suggest it directly in the app and vote for suggestions from other users.

PRIVACY No account and no sign-in. No ads and no tracking. Your location and motion data stay on your phone and are never sent to our servers. You can clear your local settings and app data whenever you want.

Always follow signs and signals at the bridge. Brotider is a supplement to, not a replacement for, official traffic information and instructions from the bridge operator.
