BuddyBuilder is a sports matching app that brings together people who want to be active – but not alone.

Many people are motivated to exercise, yet often lack a suitable training partner in their immediate environment. This is exactly where BuddyBuilder comes in: the app connects sports enthusiasts and creates real-life encounters.

The focus is not on performance or competition, but on personal growth, new experiences, and shared moments. It’s about trying out new sports, having fun, and enabling activities that wouldn’t be possible alone.

BuddyBuilder motivates through challenges, shared goals, and direct head-to-head duels – always on your own level. At the same time, the app helps users step out of their comfort zone: in sports, when trying new activities, and when meeting new people.

Buddy Mode (People)

Here, users can find a sports buddy. Through our matching algorithm, users are shown suitable profiles that they can match with. After a mutual match, they can interact via chat within the app and challenge each other to “Head-to-Head” or “Shared Goals.” Spontaneous meetups, such as a tennis match, can also be organized through the chat.

Group Mode

Users can create flexible or long-term sports groups or join existing ones. They have the option to create public or private groups. Creating a group is done via the «+» feature at the top right of the home screen.

Challenges

A central element of the app is sports goals and challenges. There are two formats:

Head-to-Head Two people compete directly against each other.

Examples: • Who runs 50 km first • Who does more pull-ups this week

Shared Goal Multiple people work together towards a common goal.

Examples: • We run 500 km together this month • Our group completes 10,000 push-ups

Creating Head-to-Head and Shared Goals is done via the «Challenges» feature. Users can either select a custom or predefined challenge. After sending, the recipient receives the challenge under «Requests» in the «Chats» feature. Once accepted, it appears in the «Challenges» section, where it is tracked together. Results are tracked via Strava.

Events

Events differ from group mode by their one-time nature. They can be large events like a local marathon or small, self-organized meetups such as a football tournament.

Examples: • Users want to prepare together for the local marathon. They create a running group under Events, which other users can join. If they want a private running group, they can create it in Group Mode instead. • A creator organizes a volleyball tournament as an event. All users can join this tournament via the «Events» feature on the home screen.

Users can create and organize their own events. At the same time, it is also possible to join events without being the organizer, simply to participate with a group. Creating events is done via the «+» feature at the top right of the home screen.

Discover

The Discover section is the exploration layer of the app. Users can discover new sports. When selecting a sport, all users who have listed that sport in their profile are displayed. In addition, all groups and events related to that sport are shown. The Discover feature also includes a search function for all profiles, groups, and events.
