As a licensed therapist, I'm grateful to have discovered this simple app that I can recommend to clients working on emotional regulation and positive self-reflection. Most of my clients are Gen Z or Alpha and prefer the privacy and security of journaling apps to physical media. The customization also makes it appealing to different personality types: instead of being locked in to “overly cute” or "clinical and boring,” clients can choose or switch between modes depending on their mood. This app will definitely be one of my go-to tools. The format is low pressure - you just add one memory or moment at a time, and it’s very fast and easy to do. Doesn’t feel like “work” and it’s much easier to stick with than a traditional positivity journal (or gratitude journal). If you upgrade, the app restates your entries back to you like a supportive friend, which is a pretty nice feature for combatting loneliness or just a lack of highly supportive people (which sadly, many of us lack right now). On the support function, when you pick from feelings like “anxiety,” “overwhelmed,” or something like the broader “feeling low” (translation: depression?), it shows you more targeted results of your saved memories to counter the specific feeling more effectively than just leafing through a journal or scrolling your journaling app history. Also handy is the tagging system: the app offers broad tags that make recognizing and naming basic feelings more straightforward and labeling your positive traits and personal strengths less difficult for people who have a history of struggling with self-worth. Highly recommend to therapists / counselors looking for client tools that compliment modalities like Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Positive Psychotherapy, Positive Affect Treatment, etc.

I got this app as mindfulness tool and it definitely works as that. Where it really shines though, and what it is intended for, is as a tool for positivity and self reflection. It encourages you to focus on your daily accomplishments, large or small. This is important in itself but the app keeps those entries to remind you when you’re perhaps suffering from a little imposter syndrome or perhaps just need a pick me up. It’s very easy to use and I definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re into mindfulness or self affirmation.

YES! BestLight is the first positivity (or gratitude or whatever you use it for) app I can see myself sticking with. Most self-reflection apps feel like homework, but this one asks for just one memory at a time and takes like 30 seconds (easy victory even in burnout mode). The AI restates your memories back to you like a supportive friend, which sounds small but hits differently than just seeing my exact words, idk. It's like, "hey, thanks, friend! You remembered the thing I did and you're giving me the props!" vs my own not-very self-congratulatory phrasing, haha. The "Show my best light" button is genuinely clever: you tap a feeling you're struggling with and it surfaces past memories that counter it. I haven't put in very many yet, but I can already see how much it will help, basically positive affectation therapy in a few taps--what!! I'm usually too tired for mindfulness exercises and trying to remember things myself, so this is honestly perfect if you have a hard time remembering the good when you're feeling bad. It's also SUPER easy to find my entries and filter them in various ways (other stuff I tried was overwhelming and my entries felt like they just POOFED into the ether). Highly recommend for anyone who has a hard time sticking with gratitude and positivity journaling.
