Artists are still making them. Listeners are still choosing them. What disappeared was the direct distribution system that once moved tapes from the artist to the street, through retail stores, and into the hands of people who knew exactly what they came to find.

When that retail network collapsed, mixtapes did not die. They were absorbed into a digital market built around albums, singles, and playlists.

Streaming made the catalog larger, but it did not necessarily make the culture easier to navigate. A mixtape could still exist, still carry weight, and still move through the streets, while sitting inside a system that gave it no dedicated shelf, no clear identity, and no lane of its own.

Mixtape Monster was built to restore that lane for the streaming era.
