Genealogy family online

The more we know about our ancestors, the stronger our connection to our roots, the more confident we look to the future

The Family Genealogy Online app is an online database of family tree information. The app was created for researching and preserving the historical legacy of ancestors. It contains a list of family members and their relationships, along with photographs and copies of documents. Each family member can contribute and update information from anywhere in the world. All information is stored on your family website in genealogy cards. The website platform is hosted on GitHub at https://github.com/dvpt1/genealogy-family-online. The platform is completely free. You can freely download it and install it on your website. Installation instructions are also available there.

The information on the platform is stored in family members' genealogy cards in JSON format. Family members' cards are stored in the "cards" folder as ".card" files (e.g., 000001.card, 000002.card, etc.). The "photos" folder contains subfolders (e.g., 000001, 000002, etc.) containing photographs and copies of the person's documents.

The platform is a web interface for accessing the database from web browsers and applications. A built-in API is available for working with the platform from applications. The API is located on the website in the 'api' directory. Access to the website's API is configured in the application settings. The application can work both online and offline. When running offline, data is stored in the application folder in the Documents directory. Switching between modes is done in the application settings.

To work with the family database from the online app, you need to enter the following in "Settings":

• path to the website where the platform is installed
• login and email registered on the website
• password received during registration

Family members can add new people and edit data depending on their access level. There are three access levels:

• 0 - full access and administration access via cadm.php
• 0 - full access
• 1 - can only edit their own cards
• 2 - can only view

The first registered user in the list (id=1) has administrator rights. Site administration is performed via cadm.php (https://site.online/cadm.php).

Download the platform template from GitHub https://github.com/dvpt1/genealogy-family-online. Upload the unzipped archive to your website via FTP, SFTP, or other means, to the root of your website or a separate folder on your website.

Configure the ccfg.php file on the website. Create a MySQL database and the 'csessions' and 'cusers' tables. Create your first user – this will be the superuser. You will receive an activation link to your email. Click the link in the email to follow it. Upon activation, the user is assigned access level 2. To change the access level, the website administrator must assign the user access level 0 or 1 in the cadm.php panel.

To log in to the website, enter your username and password. Click Login. You will receive a 6-digit code to your email. Enter it in the code field. Click Login again. Please note: if you don't receive any emails, check your SPAM folder.
