Well made with cute art and solid mechanics. Great variety modifiers to vary runs.

I would have to say I’m enjoying, Scriver, a decent amount so far. I’ve found the it to be a charming, colorful, aesthetically pleasing and at times a quite challenging word game. Which, my interest is always piqued if it’s a word game. I would definitely add Scriver pretty high on my list of great games that are worth your time in this genre. It took me a second to understand how all of the art pieces and different bonuses worked in Scriver. But, if you just play a few rounds I think and read all of the descriptions. Well, most of the upgrades became quite clear to me after doing that for a bit. Some of the critics’s (like bosses in the game) restrictions in the game can be very challenging. Especially when they make it so every odd letter cannot be scored. Yet, as I said that just adds to the challenge I believe and makes you have to focus and think a lot harder in trying to win that round. You have 4 discards per round, unless a bonus you obtain gives you more. Which, in the beginning I completely failed at even noticing I had the ability to discard letters, haha. Coming from, Birdigo, which is another great word game that came out recently and that I also recommend. Well, I should have noticed the discards a lot quicker and used them 😛. The only puzzling thing about this game that I don’t fully understand as of yet, and this problem may be my issue and not the game. Is how Scriver is a “roguelike” deckbuilder word game? Is it because once you open up new pieces of artwork/bonuses that they are then added to your overall pool of them when you fail and start a new game? Because my understanding of “roguelike” was usually a game where you might fail and have to start over often. Yet, during your gameplay you unlocked new features, bonuses, abilities etc. that carried over into your new start of the game when you did fail. Is what I said above why Scriver was touted as a roguelike video game? Oh, well, even if that isn’t the reason this game is a roguelike, it really does not matter a lot so long as I am having fun. Which, as I said, I am very much having a lot of fun. Many thanks to the developer on creating and offering such an enjoyable word game in my opinion. Plus, there are no in-app purchases, subscriptions or other underhanded nonsense for the player to contend with here and I’m always most thankful and appreciative of that thoughtfulness. I would definitely recommend playing Scriver if you’re a word game fan or just like a nice relaxing and puzzling time to relax to. Thanks, again, to the developer for this game and God bless.
