Koan, breath & heart journal
Three zen masters — Dōgen, Ikkyū, modern — answer one real question a day. Citations from primary texts, not generic "wisdom." Private and local.
A zen master in your pocket — not a meditation timer.
禅心 is an AI conversation app built around the question, not the breath. When work pressure is keeping you up, when a relationship cuts deeper than you expected, when you don't know why you feel what you feel — you sit with a teacher. Three teachers, actually. Dōgen for direct philosophy. Ikkyū for the kōan that breaks the question. A modern voice for plain language. Each speaks in its own register, and each answer can carry a citation from the source it draws from — Shōbōgenzō, Mumonkan, Linji — not a generic "wisdom" generator pretending to be ancient.
THREE VOICES, ONE PRACTICE
• Dōgen (道元) — structured, philosophical. Points directly at experience. Cites the Shōbōgenzō.
• Ikkyū (一休) — playful, unpredictable. Breaks the question with a kōan or an unexpected angle.
• Modern Zen — practical, conversational, grounded. Ancient wisdom in ordinary words.
Switch teachers per question. The same problem, asked of all three, returns three different doors to the same room.
DAILY PRACTICE, NOT JUST CHAT
• Daily wisdom card — a single passage with the source, the season, and a reflection prompt. Designed to be read once and sat with, not scrolled past.
• Heart journal (心のノート) — write what comes up after a session. Re-read your past entries to see the pattern across weeks, not just the question of the moment.
• Breathing — 1, 2, or 3 minutes. No mood quiz, no streak shame. A circle that inhales when you inhale and holds when you hold.
• Conversation history is private and local — nothing leaves your device except the question itself.
WHY 禅心 INSTEAD OF A MEDITATION APP
• Built for the hard questions, not for affirmations. The answer to "I'm afraid of dying" should not be a calming sound.
• Citations, not hallucinations. When the answer references a teaching, the teaching is named — Shōbōgenzō Genjōkōan, Mumonkan Case 1 — so you can read the source.
• Japanese-first. The app was designed in Japanese, with English as a faithful translation. Both flows feel native.
• No streaks, no badges, no growth chart. Zen is not a game.
• One question per day is free. That's not a paywall — it's a practice.
PRO
Free tier: one zen exchange per day. Pro adds:

NOT THERAPY, NOT RELIGIOUS COUNSEL
禅心 is a contemplative tool, not a substitute for professional mental-health care. If you are in crisis, contact emergency services or a qualified provider. The voices are AI interpretations of Zen tradition — they are not ordained teachers, not lineage holders, and not a replacement for studying with a living person.
INDEPENDENT
禅心 is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any Buddhist organization, temple, or lineage. All quoted texts are public-domain or used under fair quotation. Where a translator is named, the attribution appears in the citation.
