Moshi: SSH & MOSH Terminal Apple

Moshi: SSH & MOSH Terminal

for Claude Code, Codex & more

Features & Capabilities

Moshi: SSH & MOSH Terminal is a mobile AI-driven terminal designed for Claude Code, Codex, and more. It lets your coding agent run on a server while you stay mobile, bridging the gap between desk and couch with persistent sessions and hands-free control.

Built for AI agents, Moshi supports voice-to-terminal input via on-device Whisper, a MOSH protocol that survives network switches, and Face ID-protected SSH keys stored in iOS Keychain. It also includes a productivity-focused keyboard, session resume across app switches, and a privacy-first design with data staying on-device and webhook alerts when long-running tasks complete.

User Reviews

Moshi shines as a powerful mobile SSH/MOSH terminal with tmux support, strong customization, and active development. However, recurring concerns include a subscription-based pricing model, scrolling and Claude integration bugs on mobile, and occasional UI frictions in approvals and feature access. Overall, it's highly praised for mobile remote work despite the paid model and bug/friction reports.
Pros
  • Excellent mobile-first SSH/MOSH experience that lets you work on iPhone/iPad, with strong tmux integration.
  • Actively developed with frequent new features and improvements.
  • Highly customizable, ergonomic, and polished UI/UX.
  • Solid performance for remote sessions and is often cited as better than many desktop options.
  • Supports phone notifications and cross-device workflow for agents.
Cons
  • Subscription/paywall model: many features have moved behind paid tiers, and some reviewers dislike the need for ongoing payment.
  • Mobile scrolling bugs on iOS after updates, with scrolling stopping or behaving erratically.
  • Claude integration can be buggy (Claude window/cursor issues and session loss under certain conditions).
  • UI/workflow friction around approvals/inbox prompts and some actions (e.g., open terminal) not always behaving as expected.

I spend a lot of time connecting to my home lab and cloud servers from my iPhone. I manage running containers, packages on the host, etc. Over the past 18 months, my usage has skyrocketed thanks to Claude Code, which allows me to make progress on my first-party apps and open source projects much more effectively than attempting to tap out code in NeoVim. I’ve been using Blink shell for years, but have never been very happy with it. The sole reason I’ve stuck with it comes down to one feature: proper handling of custom fonts with programming ligatures and NerdFont icons. I feel like I’ve tested dozens of apps and they either don’t handle ligatures or don’t have support for custom fonts at all. While Blink works, you have to go through a whole song and dance with uploading your font to a web server and writing a CSS file that embeds it. PITA. Enter Mochi! Not only does this app have support for custom fonts, you can add them directly from Files. No fiddling with CSS or web servers. The ligature support is perfect, and NerdFont icons render like a dream. Not only does Mochi pass the font test, it’s superior to Blink and every other terminal app I’ve tried, with awesome customization abilities, first class support for tmux, handy Claude Code features I never knew I needed, and intuitive management of sessions and favorite servers. I could go on and on. Five stars isn’t enough, frankly, so I’ve gone ahead and paid for a lifetime license, even though it will take years to make financial sense. I consider it a small price to pay up front to reward the developer for crafting such a wonderful app. Thank you!

Frequent updates, fair pricing model, and the app works well. I would recommend! You do need to know how to set up the host machine properly.

I use it with Codex and it is truly amazing. I can get more stuff done on my phone now with the help of this setup. I used it with tailscale to get into my laptop at home, and I never worry about lid close stops the agent from running any more.
