Most of us have something in a cupboard that we will never use again, and something on a list that we would rather not buy new. giveit puts those two facts next to each other.

Everything here is free. There is no price field, no bidding, no shipping. You list what you no longer need, someone nearby asks for it, and you agree where to hand it over.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Open the app and see what people near you are giving away, closest first.
2. Found something? Send a message and arrange a pickup.
3. Got something to pass on? A photo, a line of description, and you are done — the location fills in from where you are.

WHY GIVE INSTEAD OF THROW AWAY

A working kettle, a bike your child outgrew, a box of books — these take a landfill decades to forget and take a neighbour ten minutes to collect. Giving one away is faster than listing it for sale and far less work than a trip to the tip.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Browse free items near you, sorted by distance, or pick any country • Search and filter by how far you are willing to travel • List an item in under a minute, with up to 10 photos • Message the other person in the app — no phone numbers, no email addresses • Mark items reserved while a pickup is arranged, then donated when it is done • Leave a review after an exchange, so it is clear who is easy to deal with • Get notified when something new appears near you, or when someone replies • Look around without an account; sign up when you want to list or request

The feed is centred on you, so what you see is what you can actually reach. If your area is still quiet, giveit widens the search and tells you it has done so, rather than showing you an empty screen and letting you guess why.

PRIVACY AND SAFETY

Your exact address is never shown — items appear with a street and a distance, and you decide what to share in the chat. Photos are checked before they go live. You can block or report anyone, and every profile carries its own history so you know who you are dealing with.
