Learn chinese by reading your favorite classics, stories, and novels. Read by listening and taking notes with fun, educational stories. Kango provides an advanced reader to read, annotate, save, and narrate HSK graded stories, white papers, practical conversations, and your well-known classics. Original text in Chinese and its English translation can be read in parallel, sentence by sentence.

You can annotate the text with post-it notes, look up its dictionary meanings, look up its individual characters and replay the narration as many times as you like. You can also save your favorite sentences and pin it on your personal wall on the app. When you see a word you want to learn more about, you can also see how the word can be used in practical everyday, or business conversations, all through the Kango app.

Words that you save from a text get added to a quiz list and SRS flashcard system, where you can quiz yourself and see the sentence where the word appeared.

Kango comes with many custom configs. You can change the font family, size, toggle pinyin, display literal english meanings under each word, and group compound words visually together. When you're more comfortable with reading, toggle these options off to practice reading real-world text.

There are a wide range of classics, novels, short stories, white papers, and practical conversations on Kango to practice your listening and reading skills. You can also upload your own epub, or pdf books. Kango's short stories and conversations come bite-sized, so you can read and listen on the subway or during an evening run.
