RollCut is built on an architecture of multiple independent layout engines. Each engine follows a different strategy, allowing the app to cover a wide range of packing scenarios.

Dedicated algorithms are used for coil mode, considering longitudinal cutting specifics. For sheet mode, multiple packing strategies are available, including a vertical dense filling method.

Base, Smart and Alternative

RollCut provides several calculation modes:

Base — stable and predictable layout generation. Smart — more flexible calculation with advanced combination search. Alternative — an additional strategy that behaves differently depending on the selected mode.

In Sheet mode, when using Smart Layout, the Alternative option can activate vertical dense filling, enabling tighter packing and alternative layout structures.
