WHAT IS TANNI?

Tanni is a traditional 6-player trick-taking card game played in two teams of three. Using a special 24-card deck with unique card rankings, players bid for the right to set the trump suit and compete to win tricks worth points.

HOW TO PLAY

Deal: Each player receives 4 cards from a deck containing 6, 5, J, 9, A, and 10 in each suit.

Bid: Players bid the minimum points they believe their team can win, from 45 up to 72. The winning bidder secretly selects the trump suit.

Play: Four tricks are played per round. Follow the lead suit if possible, or reveal trump when you cannot. The highest card wins each trick.

Score: Teams earn flag points when they fail to meet their bid. First team to 5 flags loses the game.

UNIQUE CARD RANKINGS

Unlike traditional card games, Tanni uses a special ranking system:

• 6 is the highest card (worth 6 points)
• 5 is second highest (worth 5 points)
• Jack is third (worth 3 points)
• 9 is fourth (worth 9 points)
• Ace is fifth (worth 11 points)
• 10 is lowest (worth 10 points)

SPECIAL DECLARATIONS

Joddi: If your team wins the first 3 tricks, declare Joddi before the 4th trick. Win all remaining tricks for bonus points, or face a heavy penalty if you fail.

Tanni: The ultimate high-stakes bid. Declare Tanni to play ALONE against three opponents. Your teammates sit out while you attempt to win all 4 tricks solo.
