User Reviews
I stumbled on this game while looking for a mobile version of Opus Magnum. I got it because it seemed interesting and I liked the alchemy aesthetic of it. Having played it for a few days I have a few things to say.
-The mechanics and rules of it are few and very simple. It doesn’t take too long to learn or get better at. But I wish there were either more rules or unique mechanics for certain levels (Like resolve metal marbles backwards, elemental marbles have to be paired with a specific one, not itself, or salt and quicksilver’s roles are switched)
-There is no sound. This isn’t a majorly bad thing, but adding satisfying sound effects would really push this game to the next level
-Replayability of the game knows no bounds, but it never feels rewarding outside of earning a few achievements. A story mode would be appreciated instead of playing what feels like the same 7 levels over and over for each difficulty.
-Achievements are repetitive and few. Their requirements involve one of: beat a level under a certain time, beat a certain number of levels, or play a certain number of days in a row. I am probably never going to complete the streak achievements, and the game gives me no incentive to do so. Achievements should either have a reward behind them or make the player want to achieve them.
-Difficulty rapidly diminishes as you play the game. Once you get the hang of the game, you are never thrown any curveballs that really make you think about what marbles you remove. Levels often if not always devolve into just tapping on marbles that will remove each other and then winning.
The game is not “Bad” in any sense of the word, but it isn’t “incredible” either. I give it overall a 4/5. Not an outstanding game, just overall alright.
