What is “3DGS (3D Gaussian Splatting)”?

3DGS is a new form of 3D representation created from photos or video. Unlike traditional polygon (mesh) models, it represents space as a collection of countless Gaussian points (tiny particles). This makes it easier to achieve a lifelike texture and atmosphere—closer to real footage.
