WhoWereYou is a new kind of dating app built for all the near‑misses you still think about.

You know those moments: you locked eyes with someone on the tube, at a café, in a queue, but never said hello. WhoWereYou gives you a second chance to reconnect—without the awkwardness or pressure.

How it works

1. Post a sighting Share a brief, anonymous description of someone you noticed (where you were, what you remember, the vibe). No names, no socials, no phone numbers.

2. They claim it if it was them If the other person is on WhoWereYou, they can claim the sighting and explain why they think it was them.

3. You both decide if it’s a match You’ll see each other’s anonymous descriptions and decide whether to accept or pass. Only when you both say yes does a match open.

4. Chat anonymously, then reveal Start with anonymous chat using your initials or a nickname. If things feel right, you can choose to reveal more about yourself.

Two ways to connect

• Find Mode (Missed Connections) – Post and browse anonymous sightings around your city.
• Play Mode (Daily Picks)– See real, non‑anonymous profiles and build a short list of people you’re genuinely interested in.

In Play Mode you:

• Get an initial set of up to 5 profiles based on who you’re into
• For each profile you either keep or reject
• Kept profiles stay in your list and occupy one of your 5 slots
• Rejected profiles disappear and are replaced by new options so your list always tops back up to 5 until it’s full
• You keep going until you’ve chosen 5 people you like

You don’t know which profiles are coming next, so every decision to keep or reject matters and helps focus you on people you’re actually excited about.

Safety and privacy first

WhoWereYou is designed to feel exciting and safe:

• Anonymous by default – No full names or profile photos are shown in sightings or claims.
• Strict content rules– We block obvious phone numbers, social handles, and home/work addresses.
• Report & block tools – Quickly report or block anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
• Safety Centre – In‑app guidance on staying safe when chatting or deciding to meet.
