Whisper Stories

ugh I wish I read the reviews before. Not at all like what is advertised. So boring, poorly written and poorly narrated. Do NOT fall for their advertising.

I stumbled upon Whisper Stories through an ad on social media. I was drawn in by a quiz where it asked me likes and dislikes in regards to what types of stories I'd find stimulating. The quiz made it sound like they would be making tailored recommendations to my interests, but wouldn't show me examples until I signed up for a subscription. I signed up for the 3-month $32.99 membership. (Side note: I checked my credit card statement and I was charged $32.99 and then there was a separate charge for $14.99, currently talking to customer service about what that is for.) Immediately, I was not impressed by the app/website. From what I can tell, my homepage does not include stories that are specific to my interests. The explore page is awful. There are search functions and filter options, but I have barely any success with either. They seem to use the same 3 male voices in the stories, and none of them really do it for me. The filter option also has different voices to select such as "southern" or "british," these filters do not necessarily return results with narrators with these accents. This is the biggest waste of money. Will not be renewing membership. Honestly, I wish I could get a full refund.
