User Reviews

Many reviews praise Shelfy’s cute, customizable shelves and the idea of a book-tracking UI, but the experience is dominated by a pervasive paywall and upfront subscription requirements. Users report being unable to access core features without paying, sometimes being charged, and encountering issues with search, adding books, and discovery. Customer support is often criticized for slow responses. While a few praise the UI and updates, the recurring sentiment is that the app overpromises at a price, making it feel like a paid trial rather than a free, usable tracker.
Pros
  • Cute, customizable virtual bookshelf UI.
  • Appealing concept for tracking books with potentially useful tools.
  • Positive notes on customer service and updates from some users.
Cons
  • Widespread paywall / no genuinely free option to try the app.
  • Forced subscription to access features or proceed, with upfront pricing.
  • Users often get charged or feel misled by ‘free’ claims before using the app.
  • Functional issues like broken search, problems adding books, and blank discovery pages.
  • Customer support frequently described as slow or unresponsive.
Recent reviews
The app is missing a ton of books I counted around 200 books I scanned and they didn’t come up, they also force a subscription just like every other app. If I want to give you money I’ll donate, I’m not going to give you money monthly. Go use Goodreads or something until the devs decide to actually have books you can scan or add yourself and don’t use a subscription model.
