Features & Capabilities

Connect your Strava account to auto-sync shoe assignments to your activities. Plus a fresh visual redesign across every screen.

Talaria Tread Tracker is the shoe mileage tracker for runners who want more than a counter.

Most shoe-tracking apps just add up your miles. Talaria measures wear — the actual stress on the foam, factoring in pace, terrain, elevation, temperature, fatigue, recovery, and your running form, so you know when your shoes are really retired, not just when they hit an arbitrary mileage cap.

WHAT TALARIA DOES

• Tracks unlimited active and retired shoes with photos, brands, and custom mileage limits • Auto-assigns workouts from Apple Health to your shoes based on activity type and date • Calculates effective wear using a multi-factor model — terrain, pace, elevation, duration, temperature, biomechanics from Apple Watch (cadence, ground contact, vertical oscillation, running power), and recovery time between runs • Highlights when a shoe is approaching retirement, with the specific factors driving wear • Compares any two shoes side-by-side to spot performance changes • Honest estimates — every wear number is shown as a range with "(est.)" labels and disclaimers, never as false-precision

STRAVA INTEGRATION

• Map your Talaria shoes to your existing Strava gear, or import shoes from Strava in one tap • Workouts you assign to a shoe in Talaria sync automatically to the matching activity in Strava • Forward-only — your historical Strava data stays exactly as it is • Read-only API access, no data stored beyond what's needed to match activities

DESIGNED FOR RUNNERS

• Beautiful glassmorphism design with photographic backgrounds • Dark mode by default, with Light and System options • Full Dynamic Type support for every accessibility size • VoiceOver-optimized • iCloud sync across your devices • No ads, no subscriptions, no analytics tracking

PEER-REVIEWED METHODOLOGY

The wear model is grounded in published research on running biomechanics, foam compression, and impact forces. Every calculation is documented in-app with citations — Cook (1985) on shoe degradation, Malisoux (2015) on rotation injury risk, Nilsson & Thorstensson (1989) on ground reaction forces, and others. We're conservative on purpose: estimates are designed to err toward over-life rather than premature retirement warnings.

PRIVACY

Talaria reads your workout list from Apple Health to match activities to shoes. That's it. No analytics, no third-party trackers. If you connect Strava, only the gear-assignment field on matched activities is written.

User Reviews

This app does exactly what I need it to do, without getting in the way: automatically track wear on my shoes by pulling data from Apple Health. As a bonus, there is some training data presented in a clean, clear way. The price is very reasonable too! My only criticism is that the background photos in version 2.1 somewhat negatively impact readability. It would be nice if contrast could be improved, or a toggle could disable the photos.
