The app is unfinished an no events are posted. They charge a membership fee and won’t let you change it or delete your account. So you’re stuck paying monthly and support team is nonexistent

I signed up for Friendly after seeing ads for NYC events and was automatically charged $29/month after what I thought was a trial/early signup. The issue is the actual app feels almost empty. When I logged in, the Discover page literally showed “No Events” in NYC. Months later, I started getting Instagram ads showing a handful of events, but they feel more like occasional workshops or family activities than an active social community. Things like CPR classes in the park, pasta making, and curated picnics. Some seem interesting, but not enough to justify a recurring subscription fee, especially when many events appear to require separate ticket purchases anyway. The biggest problem is that the platform feels unfinished for a paid membership product: - very low event density - little visible community activity - sparse app experience - no real sense of an active NYC network - and the last app update was 3 months ago For comparison, apps like Timeleft, Better Off, or 222 at least have consistent recurring activity and enough local momentum that the subscription makes sense. Friendly currently feels more like an early-stage event startup charging premium subscription pricing before building the actual community. The branding and concept are nice, but the execution and value proposition are not there yet for $29/month.
