Watering mistakes are the main reason plants die. GardenGauge tells you exactly when to water based on your local weather, soil, and plant characteristics. It works without any hardware and is currently distributed completely free, with no ads.

GardenGauge uses water-balance approaches from professional agriculture to make recommendations more precise. While most plant apps rely on fixed schedules or simple seasonal rules, we use the FAO-56 dual crop coefficient method - an internationally accepted standard developed by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and used by agronomists worldwide. This method separates soil evaporation from plant water use (transpiration) and adjusts for factors like plant type, growth stage, shade, ground cover, rainfall, and local weather. By tracking daily soil moisture, GardenGauge tells you when and how much watering is truly needed - without sensors or hardware.
