About SWAC In 1920, eight men representing six colleges from the state of Texas met to discuss collegiate athletics and the many challenges that faced their respective institutions. By the time the session in Houston had concluded, they had founded an athletic league that has slowly became one of the leading sports associations in the world of collegiate athletics, the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

The SWAC is considered one of the premier HBCU conferences in the country and currently ranks among the elite in the nation in terms of HBCU alumni playing with professional sports teams.

Current championship competition offered by the league includes competition for men in Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field and Tennis. Women’s competition is offered in the sports of Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, Soccer, Softball, Tennis and Volleyball.

We are literally watching the games!!!! Stop disrespecting the bands by playing clips and giving your opinions. WE DON’T CARE ABOUT THAT. Let us see the halftime show. That’s an equally important part of the HBCU football experience and it is insulted as though the bands don’t keep this experience alive.
