User Reviews

Overall, reviewers praise Snopes’ iOS app as a reliable, well-researched source for fact-checking and truth, especially on controversial topics. The mobile experience is favored for its layout and accessibility, with many noting that the app feels like a full representation of snopes.com and is easier to navigate than the website. However, several users report churn around sign-in and subscription: persistent login problems, content access locked behind a paid status, and occasional pricing confusion. Some comments also mention the app needing ongoing polish and bug-fixing.
Pros
  • Reliable, well-researched, and trustworthy source for fact-checking.
  • Strong mobile app layout and navigation; content feels like the full site and is easier to use than the website.
  • A go-to source for verifying controversial claims and obtaining truthful information.
Cons
  • Persistent login issues; paid subscribers are stuck as guest and can’t access paid content.
  • Subscription and pricing confusion; paid access sometimes not granted or price not visible.
  • Overall app reliability and polish needs improvement; occasional glitches and a rocky launch feel.

I’ve been reading Snopes for many years, back when it started it checked mostly urban legends. Now it does a fantastic job of covering important breaking news items. I like to read it, so when people tell me “did you hear about…”(the latest outrage) I can say that’s fake and point them to Snopes. Excellent!!

So glad that I have a reliable source to deal with all the false internet stories, & now the AI slop. I’m a subscriber, it’s such a valuable resource.
