It’s one thing to do the dumb little song and dance to prove you are in an interactive web browser session. Pointless and annoying, sure, but not dangerously privacy-invasive. This thing? This thing, though? It’s not about “proving you are human.” It’s about tying your identity to the mere act of reading a Sep page. Huge boon for an advertiser. Catastrophic for users of this app. Read the privacy information published on the App Store. Apple vets this. It’s true and useful information. See what it does? Transmit YOUR identity just by existing on your phone. You might be comfortable with that as some people are. Yet even then it’s a bad app. Go across the house and fetch your phone because you want to read an article. Then come back. Then scan your screen. Then click to open an app. Then sit around hoping the app works (while it exfiltrates personal information to Google). Only then can you accomplish your original aim: looking at a web site. For those who have privacy concerns this is awful. For those who’re willing to go along with the idea… it’s still awful.
