The app includes an extensive offline collection of 5,270 MIDI tracks, allowing you to explore the music of Bach and Scarlatti without streaming or downloading additional content. In multi-movement works, each movement is provided as an individual track for convenient browsing and playback.

The MIDI data comes from carefully prepared classical MIDI archives, including performances and sequences provided by John Sankey and Suzu-chan’s Classic MIDI, along with additional materials from Bach Central, Dave’s J.S. Bach Page, IMSLP, and Tobi’s Notenarchiv.

These MIDI performances are played through two carefully crafted instrument soundfonts, each offering a distinct musical character. Detailed phrasing and expressive interpretation bring a level of depth and musicality rarely found in conventional MIDI playback.

Featured Bach works include BWV 855, 979, 813, 826, and 974, together with a broad selection of works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Domenico Scarlatti.

The first instrument is modeled after an 18th-century French Blanchet harpsichord. Created by Eric Bricet and Jean-Yves Garet in August 2005, this soundfont was produced by carefully sampling every note of a restored Blanchet 1720 harpsichord. By capturing the individual tonal qualities of two 8-foot stops and a lute stop, it faithfully recreates the clear and resonant character of the original instrument.

The second instrument is based on a Steinway Model C grand piano, measuring 7 feet 5 inches and built in 1897. This soundfont was created by Warren S. Trachtman in cooperation with the instrument’s owner, Anthony Ponaras. All 88 keys were recorded over several days at multiple dynamic levels, then meticulously edited and refined from a multi-gigabyte sample set to recreate the rich and historic resonance of the original piano.

With 5,270 offline MIDI tracks, expressive performance data, and two distinctive historical instrument soundfonts, the app offers a vivid and intimate way to experience the music of Bach and Scarlatti.
