Global IPCert

The Global IPCert App is an application integrated within the intellectual property certification system for plant material, known as Global IPCert.

Global IPCert is a generalised IP compliance system, verified by third parties, aimed at facilitating verification by certification bodies in the horticultural sector. It enhances security across the value chain and strengthens respect for the rights of breeders of protected plant varieties.

The Global IPCert App allows auditors from certification entities to confirm whether a producer, farmer, cooperative, nursery, or seed company holds an international digital certificate of intellectual property, ensuring compliance with breeders’ IP rights over plant material.

This digital “IP Certificate” helps to prevent fraudulent use throughout the material’s commercial lifecycle—from the breeder or rights holder to the producer—providing assurance to third parties that entities receiving the plant material (such as nurseries, seed companies, cooperatives, and producers) have lawfully acquired it from an entity previously authorised and registered within the Global IPCert system.
