User Reviews
Pros
- Powerful ingredient-based search across your entire cookbook collection.
- Ability to search by specific books and quickly locate recipes, with page numbers to reference the cookbook.
- Indexing/scanning your library makes the cookbooks searchable and more usable.
- Helpful for meal planning and grocery shopping, including checking ingredients while shopping.
- The concept of a centralized cookbook clearinghouse is highly appealing and often described as a game changer.
Cons
- Incomplete indexing: many cookbooks are not yet indexed or indexing is slow.
- No full recipes or measurements; you only see ingredients and must refer back to the cookbook for directions.
- Pricing concerns: free tier limits (5 books) and ongoing subscription costs, plus auto-renew/refund issues.
- Limited UI: only a long list view; users want thumbnails or additional view options.
- Doesn't sync across devices and indexing data can be unreliable.

I understand some of the critiques of the app, such as not containing full recipes, quantities, etc. I’m sure most of that has to deal with licensing.
But the fact that it categorizes my 70+ cookbooks by ingredient, and then shows both the page number (in most cases) and recipe ingredients (most of them) is a game changer for me. Definitely worth the price IMO.

I am so happy to have found this app! I feel like I suddenly have real access to all of these great cookbooks that have been taunting me. I had actually stopped buying cookbooks, but now I know I’ll actually be able to use them again so yes, I’ll be buying new cookbooks again. On a side note, the indexing of magazines is incredible! THANK YOU for making this.

I scanned 5 books before I got one that didn’t say not indexed. However when you open the recipe it just shows the ingredients but not how much of the ingredient or the instructions that go along with it.
