User Reviews

Users praise Outdoor Afro for its community focus, ease of sign-up, and the breadth of activities, but repeatedly cite usability problems, missing local chapter structure, feature gaps (attendee lists, notifications, calendar sync, payments), and visibility issues as major drawbacks. The app shows promise and mission alignment, yet UX and feature gaps hinder adoption compared with Meetup.
Pros
  • Easy to use and quick to sign up.
  • Strong community-building features: follow local leaders, connect with the community, and receive event notifications.
  • Wide range of activities and curated trips available.
  • Positive mission and potential; early-stage app with room to evolve.
Cons
  • Poor user experience and navigation; multiple reports of the app being hard to use or buggy.
  • Lack of local chapters/organization; content and events feel global rather than locally relevant; difficulty finding nearby activities or chapters.
  • Missing essential features and reliability: inability to see who’s attending, no calendar sync, notifications gaps, waitlist issues, and plans for in-app payments.
  • Visibility and search issues: events not showing up in feeds or by state, limited filtering, and difficulty locating leaders or events.
Recent reviews
Finding and connecting with other outdoor Black people has been just as difficult as it’s always been since Outdoor Afro left Meetup. Their new app isn’t user friendly and very few events are hosted. There’s just a bunch of information about things you can do, which doesn’t help you meet other Black people.

Ik this is probably a stupid question and the answer is obvious but is this app just for the black community or can other people join (no hate genuinely wondering🫠)
