I recently took courses here with Dr.Hicks and she was amazing! She went above and beyond to help me meet my goals. From the beginning of this journey I was nervous but she made me feel comfortable and supported. We first watched videos teaching us about different drugs that are here in America as well as other countries. Although we hear about the different drugs, I never knew that it was really that bad of an epidemic. These drugs have broken families apart, ruined people lives, and contributed to many deaths. Many people believe that individuals chose to be addicted to drugs and alcohol and that is not always the case. I have also learned how ethics play a huge part in Mental Health and substance abuse treatment. I have learned from an ethical perspective you have to set boundaries. During one of the mini assignments, we watched a film where we had to learn about different cultures and what they perceive as acceptable and not acceptable behaviors. In this film, many behaviors that they consider acceptable are not acceptable in today’s society. I learned that many people are misdiagnosed because they have similar symptoms and that could easily become a conflict down the line when it comes to treatment. Many of the assignments taught me valuable lesson lessons that I will take with me in my future endeavors. Looking back at our last assignment it showed me that people have biases for individuals with mental health or substance abuse and treattreat them different. However, I learned that all it takes is for one person to believe in you during your journey and it makes a difference! Dr.Hicks believe in me when I didn’t believe in myself. She pushed me along when I wanted to give up. She encouraged me when things seemed hard or I didn’t comprehend the terminology. Dr.Hicks took the time to meet with me over zoom and calls just to make sure I succeeded. I couldn’t ask for a better professor, mentor, peer, or role model! Her professionalism will continue to change lives! I appreciate her and the school for creating a path for me and other students and will always be grateful to them both. Transformation you have transformed my life for the better. Dr.Hicks you have transformed me forever and I will take every lesson with me on my new journey!

After reviewing this app, I feel it is a necessary component to assist people that are struggling with different stressors and life itself. The personal stories are helpful as well as the animations that assist you with doing exercises to relieve your stress. The app is very interactive and helps build resilience.
