Features & Capabilities

Stop guessing. Start hearing music. Train your ear daily to recognize chords, intervals, and notes - and play by ear with confidence. Ten minutes of daily training trains your brain to recognize tones, chords, and keys naturally - the same way athletes build strength with consistent workouts. With Focus Lock, you stay on track: block distracting apps until you complete your training. Train first. Scroll later.

This extension includes a free musician toolkit (tuner, metronome, and chord/interval/scale visualizers) with a free trial for ear and vocal training. Trill Pro unlocks unlimited training, advanced exercises, progress tracking, achievements, and Focus Lock. The experience is gamified with daily challenges, streaks, levels, and collectible badges - often described as Duolingo for ear training by users.

User Reviews

Users praise the app's UI and its gamified ear-training approach, noting benefits and improvements, particularly with AirPods. Recurrent drawbacks include a high pricing/free-trial barrier, audio playback and Bluetooth/headphone routing issues, and onboarding/progression friction that can make it hard to start or advance without paying.
Pros
  • Nice UI and easy navigation
  • Gamified learning structure with daily stages that keeps users engaged
  • Reported ear-training improvements, especially when using AirPods
Cons
  • Pricing model and free-trial friction, with subscription costs seen as expensive or restrictive

The app constantly asks for reviews before you’ve even used it so i’m giving it a 1 until it earns a better rating. When “pressing piano keys” to hear pitches of notes, the playback is terrible and the pitch of each key fluctuates slightly before landing on the “true” pitch which is off slightly from what you would hear on a piano. I really hope this improves.

This app reminds me of Duolingo in that it’s gamafied. The only difference is that Duolingo is a lot more accessible with voiceover screen reader for blind people such as myself than trill is I got really excited when I heard about trill on Facebook just through scrolling my feed and so I thought I would try it out seeing as is I’m blind and have been a musician for quite a while. Wanted to test my perfect and relative pitch but after creating my account, I couldn’t even start the lesson or review to see where I would be able to start in whatever level I'd be in based on a review that would determine my starting point like Duolingo. The sad thing about Duolingo though is that they created a music section and a math section and both of those sections are not that accessible either but oddly enough the language is when you wanna learn a language at least certain languages. anyway I was really excited to use your app but to no avail now disappointed, but I’m glad it’s free to try for seven days. I canceled the subscription early enough because I knew after trying to play around with it for about five minutes that it wouldn’t last long on my iPhone, unless I were to reach out to you guys. If you’d like to reach out to me directly, you can do so if you’re interested in helping making it accessible I can send you to a site that encourages apps like yours to be very accessible to the blind community. My email is cdrobles693 @ gmail.com or alternatively you can go to the following site and post about your app on their site and ask how to make it accessible to the blind community. The site is applevis.com Good luck. I hope this helps and is informal and I’d love to be a beta tester for accessibility.
