User Reviews

Overall, users praise Project Indigo for excellent image quality, fast processing, strong post-processing (noise reduction), and an intuitive interface useful for photographers, with solid night and telephoto performance. However, reviews highlight reliability issues: photos can disappear or fail to save during processing; the app crashes or freezes; some devices lack full compatibility (no iPad support; inconsistent support across iPhone models and OS versions). Output can differ from previews (color shifts, desaturation, JPEG artifacts). Additional complaints include high power usage and battery drain. Stability and cross device consistency need improvement for broader adoption.
Pros
  • Excellent image quality and processing that often surpasses the built-in camera
  • Very fast processing delivering high quality results in seconds
  • Effective post-processing features including noise reduction and natural tones
  • Intuitive user interface and controls that improve photographers workflow
  • Strong night and telephoto performance that enhances low light shots
Cons
  • Photos disappear or fail to save during processing; leaving the app can cause loss
  • Stability issues: crashes, freezes, or unresponsive viewfinder
  • Limited platform support and device compatibility (no iPad support; inconsistent support across iPhone models/OS versions)
  • Saved images do not match in-app previews (color shifts, desaturation, JPEG artifacts)
  • High power usage and battery drain due to processing and background activity

I am doing some macro photography, and I absolutely love your app, especially for the super resolution on the 2x image crop. However, in some macro situations, the depth of field becomes prohibitively narrow. Because of this, the solution is focus bracketing, to digitally widen the depth of field. I am requesting this feature, as it would increase the usability of the app for me significantly. I can see 2 possible implementations: one would be to just output a raw image sequence to process on the computer or to do it directly in the app. The former would be a quick and easy feature to push, and it would make me very happy, but the second would turn this app into a literal piece of magic and I couldn’t even express what a difference it would make for me.

I like the camera function very much and the interface is also very simple and eye-catching, but it is not very friendly to non-naglish speakers. Simplified Chinese can also be added.

Probably the most unreliable camera app around. When it works, the images look very nice, definitely an improvement over the stock photos app. When it doesn’t work, the app crashes, doesn’t save your photo until it is processed, or will simply show a black screen with no camera. The settings are easy to use and more powerful than stock camera. However, it seriously heats up my iPhone 14 Pro to the point of overheating under normal use. AI denoise crashes the app and heats the phone a lot. As soon as this is fixed, this will be a pretty great app.
