The Halo Learn mobile app is a companion for Halo Learn LMS, providing near real-time Halo Alerts to keep you connected to your classroom on the go. It is not a replacement for the Halo Learn website.

Alerts are opt-in and configurable in-app or on the Halo website. Students and faculty can receive notifications for private messages, announcements, grades, reassignment, and group messages. Additional alert types may be added over time. An active Halo Learn account with GCU or a partner school is required to use the app.

Users praise the notification features and mobile access to grades, but the app is plagued by stability issues. It frequently won't open, gets stuck on the splash screen, or redirects to a browser instead of showing content. As a result, the reliable notification capability is undermined and daily class access remains inconsistent, especially after updates. Overall, the app is useful for alerts but largely unusable for routine coursework without fixes.

Pros

Receives timely notifications for assignments and announcements.
Allows viewing grades and instructor messages within the app.
On-the-go access makes it convenient for online students to stay updated.

Cons

App often won't launch or crashes on startup (stuck on the Halo purple screen).
Notifications load but tapping them doesn't show content and sometimes opens a web browser instead.
Instability after updates/iOS updates, often requiring reinstall and re-login.

Recent reviews

I know that there’s a lot of updates pending currently with the Halo Learn system online, but I see that the Halo Learn app doesn’t really get as much support or attention to update buggy issues it currently has. Having to re-download and sign in just for the application to work and show classes is a handful and annoying. The app is great send notifications which is what I normally use this app for now because there’s no way to use the application without it crashing or not even loading anything at all.
