Rebuilt from the ground up. Chart-style aerodrome symbols, flight plans you edit straight on the map, and everything on your account exactly where you left it.
FlightPlanOnline is a VFR flight planning app and moving map for pilots
flying in southern Africa.
Plan the flight on the chart, fly it with the airspace and the
frequencies in front of you, and land with your logbook already filled
in.
THE MOVING MAP
Southern African airspace, aerodromes and reporting points, with the
aeronautical overlay drawn over your choice of base map.
Aerodromes are drawn the way a chart draws them — a solid disc for a
hard runway, an open circle for grass — each turned to its own runway
heading, so you can read the field before you read the label. Zoom out
and nearby fields group together so the chart stays legible.
Tap anywhere to see what is underneath: the aerodromes nearby and every
piece of airspace overhead, with the frequency for each and its upper
and lower limits.
FLIGHT PLANNING
Build a route by pressing the chart. Points snap to aerodromes and to
VFR reporting points, so aiming at Steel Works gives you Steel Works
rather than a coordinate.
A plan on the map is a plan you can change — drag any point and it
moves. Drag the cross on a leg to add a turning point in the middle of
it. Search an aerodrome by name and add it without leaving what you are
doing.
Routes can end where they began, for a local flight out and back.
Plans are saved to your account and are there on every device you sign
in on.
AERODROMES
Frequencies, runway dimensions and surface, fuel prices, operator
contacts and procedures — on one screen, with the NOTAMs for that field.
Last light is worked out for the aerodrome you are looking at, not for
wherever you happen to be sitting. Over the length of the country that
is the better part of an hour.
Phone numbers, email addresses and websites can be tapped to call, write
or open the site.
IN THE AIR
Your aircraft on the chart with track, groundspeed and altitude, and the
next waypoint with its bearing, distance and estimate.
Warnings when controlled airspace or a danger area lies ahead, with the
frequency you will need before you reach it.
Direct-to any aerodrome, for a diversion.
Trips record automatically. Recording continues with the screen locked
and the phone in a pocket, so a locked phone does not leave a straight
line across everything you flew.
WHEN YOU LAND
Your logbook entry is written for you — route, times and landings,
including night landings worked out from last light rather than assumed.
Weight and balance for each aircraft on your account, with the envelope
drawn and the loaded point on it.
OFF THE NETWORK
Download map areas before you go. The chart, your plans and your
aircraft all work with no signal, which is the normal condition on most
of the aprons this app is used on.
ALSO IN THE APP
Share a live link so somebody on the ground can follow your flight.
Fly with friends and see each other on the map — this shows only
FlightPlanOnline users who have chosen to share, and is not traffic
awareness or collision avoidance.
A flight simulator, for flying a plan through on the ground before you
fly it for real.
Light and dark themes.
ACCOUNT
FlightPlanOnline requires an account, which is managed at
flightplanonline.co.za. Your plans, aircraft, pilots and logbook live on
that account and follow you between devices.
FlightPlanOnline is an aid to VFR situational awareness. It is not a
substitute for official aeronautical charts, a pre-flight briefing, or
current NOTAM and weather information from the responsible authority.
Stay Connected Anytime, Anywhere
With cloud-based access, your flight plans are always up-to-date and available when you need them. Whether planning ahead or adjusting mid-flight, Flight Plan Online ensures a smooth and stress-free experience.
