User Reviews

Golf Rising Star has a promising golf-themed progression with training and upgrades, and some players love the concept. However, it’s hampered by relentless ads, a slow grind, and strong monetization that gates progress. Many reviews note the game doesn’t feel like real golf and can be frustrating due to inconsistent results and lack of onboarding. While a minority can progress without paying, the pay-to-win vibe and ad fatigue undermine the experience. The core has potential, but balance, onboarding, and monetization need major improvement.
Pros
  • Engaging progression concept with training and club upgrades (leveling up a golfer)
  • Potential and enjoyable core gameplay; players report having fun and enjoying the concept
  • Progression is possible without mandatory spending for some players, offering a free-to-play path
  • Early version shows promise and some users praise the game despite its flaws
  • Positive sentiment from some players like "Having a blast" and appreciation for the core idea
Cons
  • Relentless ads interrupt gameplay (ads every few rounds; frequent interruptions)
  • Very slow grind and progression; long time to advance, especially through leagues
  • Heavy monetization and gating (gems/diamonds, pay-to-win feel) including ad-free option costs
  • Gameplay not focused on actual golf and feels simulated; inconsistent outcomes; some find it boring
  • Lack of onboarding/tutorial and occasional bugs/achievements issues

Can you make a track game where you can play with your club, school, and national team and you start from elementary

It takes a grind to level up your player enough to compete. Ads pop up every few rounds you play and there are barriers that require you to spend money on gems to continue or watch ads to continue. If you want to sit down and play this for more than a few minutes at a time prepare to spend money or spend more time watching ads to continue or to rebuild your stamina/status. There isn’t a tutorial or anything to show you what you should be doing so you just have to dive into it and figure it out in your own. When you play versus mode it doesn’t feel consistent it seems like you could shoot the same shot twice and they won’t both end up in the same area, it also plays you against the same handful of bots match after match (Sarah Smith, Emily Smith, John Smith……) and they shoot ridiculously low scores sometimes that aren’t remotely realistic. Perfectly played holes always result in par there’s no chance to get birdie or better the par isn’t accurate. I downloaded this and it showed up on my phone right next to “EA Golf Clash” and the logo is literally a 1:1 ripoff with the EA logo taken away.
