User Reviews

Users generally praise the Fluval lights and improvements to percentage/day-cycle controls when the app works. However, recurring issues dominate: crashes and stability problems after updates, unreliable multi-device login, limited remote/WiFi control, and a clunky UI with hard-to-enter percentages. Some features advertised for maintenance or single-device grouping are missing, fueling frustration and even brand-switch considerations. Overall, hardware is liked but app reliability and visibility of features are the main pain points.
Pros
  • The Fluval lights themselves are high quality and well-regarded by users.
  • Easier and more precise control of light percentages and day cycles.
  • When it works, the UI/UX is pleasant and the app is easy to use.
  • Reliable connection with Plant 3.0 and some other Fluval devices for some users.
  • Notable improvements in updates that users perceive as moving the app in a better direction.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and stability issues, especially after updates (force closes, timeouts).
  • Login persistence across devices is unreliable; staying logged in is a common problem.
  • Limited remote access and WiFi control; not practical to monitor or control lights away from home.
  • Cumbersome UI/UX with non-intuitive controls, including a radial percentage input lacking numeric entry.
  • Advertising claims don’t always match the app’s features (e.g., maintenance tools), plus lack of device grouping requiring multiple apps.
Recent reviews
Much prefer the other app. But unfortunately, the reef 4.0 requires this app.

Ai in 2026 is good enough that you guys could fix the features overnight. What is goin on???? This app does not match the quality of the light. Competition will take over of you don’t fix this thing ASAP, one night of work!

Love the lights but the app almost never gets updated and trying to stay logged in is another problem. Good luck with the app if you do sign in trying to get everything to save and change is another problem.
