User Reviews

Editorial remains a top-tier Markdown/TaskPaper editor on iOS, with superb Dropbox syncing, powerful Workflows, and a polished UI. Its downsides are infrequent maintenance, lack of iCloud/Files support, outdated docs, and occasional performance/UX annoyances. It’s especially appealing to Dropbox users who want deep workflow features and reliable plain-text editing, though some may prefer updates or alternative cloud options.
Pros
  • Powerful Markdown and TaskPaper editing with advanced Workflows (folding/reordering headings).
  • Excellent Dropbox integration and reliable syncing, plus easy file transfer via USB/local storage.
  • Beautiful, well-designed UI with a natural editing, viewing, and exporting experience on iOS.
  • Snippet/text-expansion features including current date/time insertion.
  • Most mentioned positives: strong Dropbox syncing and versatile Workflows across reviews.
Cons
  • Update frequency appears to be limited or abandoned, with notices of infrequent maintenance.
  • Cloud options are limited to Dropbox (no iCloud Drive or iOS Files integration).
  • Documentation is outdated, containing dead links and little recent activity.
  • Occasional performance issues with Dropbox and long file operations on older devices.
  • UX friction: paste prompts on iOS and lack of customizable keyboard shortcuts.

I keep forgetting all that Editorial is capable of. I forgot about the snippet/text expansion capabilities for inserting current date and time, and after spending all day looking for an affordable option on iOS… I realized, Oh right, Editorial does THAT too!!! Amazing!

Not gonna lie, I’d love an update. But this still has features modern apps don’t have.
