User Reviews

Users tout Matiks as fun and mentally stimulating, with math and memory training and a competitive edge via duels and Elo. The strongest positives are engaging gameplay and cognitive benefits. Common critiques include the harsh Elo system, a desire for solo play against personal highs, a wish for more game variety, and UX improvements like sound and haptics. Overall, players praise its brain-training value, accessibility for students, and relaxing gameplay, while asking for more modes and smoother balancing.
Pros
  • Fun, engaging and entertaining gameplay that many users enjoy.
  • Helps with math, memory, and overall brain training for students.
  • Competitive play and Elo adds a challenging, motivating experience.
  • Calming, relaxing downtime activity that keeps the mind active and helps avoid doomscrolling.
Cons
  • Elo system is too hard / not well balanced, making ranking frustrating.
  • Lack of single-player or independent play modes; players want to beat their own high scores rather than others.
  • Not enough game variety; desire for more minigames or different modes.
  • Audio and haptic feedback lacking; could improve with better sound effects and haptic feedback.

Fun way to practice for online assessments for quantitative roles. Feels good to stay sharp and the skills transfer well to other analytical tasks. The rating scheme is a bit nonsensical, though, because games are clustered by type yet skills do not always transfer well between different games of the same type. For example one can crush mind snap duels but get crushed in flash anzan at the same rating. This makes progress across games more difficult because to keep improving rating you need to specialise rather than play all the games.
