User Reviews

Overall, players praise Harpagia for its deep, interconnected skill system, engaging progression, strong performance, and a responsive, solo-developer community. The game offers a Melvor-like feel without excessive tedium and is not strictly pay-to-win, with significant content available through play. However, recurring criticisms center on weak offline progression, monetization concerns (ads and gem-based progression, pricey premium options), grindy pacing (especially mid-to-late game), expensive charm/auracle unlocks, and a learning curve due to unclear mechanics. Frequent updates and quick bug fixes are repeatedly highlighted as positives.
Pros
  • Deep, interconnected skill system with varied mini-games and engaging progression; endgame is rewarding.
  • Excellent performance and optimization; runs smoothly with long sessions and minimal battery drain.
  • Solo developer creates a responsive, community-friendly experience.
  • Frequent updates and quick bug fixes; ongoing content adds longevity.
  • Accessible, non pay-to-win progression; you can unlock a lot by playing rather than spending.
Cons
  • Offline progression is weak: gains are negligible offline and progress often requires leaving the app running.
  • Monetization concerns: ads gating daily missions, heavy reliance on gems, and premium options viewed as overpriced.
  • Progression pacing can be grindy, with fast early progress but slowing significantly in mid-to-late game.
  • Charm/auracle unlocks are prohibitively expensive and feel luck-based; significant IAP barrier.
  • Learning curve due to unclear explanations for some mechanics; certain features feel like trial-and-error to learn.
Recent reviews
Great game. Been playing for months. There’s IAPs, but everything can be earned in game. I would recommend some of the QOL IAPs to support the dev though. Over the past 6 months that I’ve played the devs has added a ton, including a new skill (archeology), more battle modes, and even trading. Really excited to see what else they have planned.
