User Reviews

Reviews praise Music Character Player for its FNF-like, mod-friendly concept and mobile playability, with several users saying it’s a good or better-than-original take. However, persistent stability and loading problems dominate feedback, including crashes, black screens, and device compatibility issues on iOS. Players also request more features (freeplay, mod creation, achievements) and improved UI/UX (chart editor clarity, skins, note alignment). Overall, the app has potential but needs significant bug fixes and feature polish.

When is the next update gonna come out?

This is easily one of the better Friday Night Funkin’ clones on mobile right now, and honestly, I’m surprised how close it plays to the real game. It feels just like FNF, but instead of the original songs and weeks, it’s all modded content — which is actually a really cool idea, I’m having fun with most of the mods here. That said, there are a few major issues that are making it really frustrating to use right now, and if these get fixed, this could easily be my go-to mobile FNF experience. First off, the crashing is out of control. Trying to play certain weeks like Sky, Clown, Challenge Edd, and a few others is basically a coin flip. Half the time the game just goes to a black screen for a couple seconds and then kicks me straight out to the home screen. Even when I do get into a song, sometimes the next track in the week will crash the game randomly. The worst part? Sometimes just hitting the pause button will make it freeze and crash too. It’s gotten to the point where I’m scared to pause mid-song because I don’t want to lose my progress. Then there are the visual bugs. I noticed in the Tabi week that the character skins aren’t loading properly at all — instead of the actual characters, they just show up as tiny little squares. I haven’t seen it in every week yet, but if it’s happening in Tabi, there’s a good chance it’s affecting other mods too, so that definitely needs a fix. On top of that, the quality-of-life stuff is missing. Where’s the freeplay mode? Right now you have to go through the entire week just to play one specific song you like, which gets annoying fast. It would be so much better if we could just pick any song from the menu without having to play through the whole set. And don’t even get me started on the chart editor. I was excited to try making my own songs, but the editor is just a mess. All the buttons are just random letters with zero labels, and there’s no tutorial or guide to explain what anything does. I spent 10 minutes just trying to figure out how to add notes, and even when I did manage to make a simple chart, trying to play my own song just crashes the game immediately. It feels like it’s barely functional right now. At the end of the day, I still think this app has a ton of potential, and I would totally recommend it if you’re stuck without a PC to play the real FNF on. If the dev team can fix the crashes, the visual glitches, add freeplay, and clean up the chart editor, I’d happily bump this up to a full five stars. If you could fix the character display bugs, like how characters from Bambi, Back Alley Blitz, BF, Tabi, Festival, etc., don’t show up properly, I’d really appreciate it. I’d also love it if you could add 5 or 10 more mods if possible, though I won’t push for anything else. If these bugs are fixed and more mods are added, I’ll be so grateful and definitely recommend this app to other people. Thank you so much for all the hard work porting the game. I really hope you see this comment. And if you can fix the crashing issues too, that’d be amazing.
