HOW IT GOES

block your apps for a while — 15 minutes, half an hour, an hour. your pet goes out foraging in the underscreen and comes back with treats.

the rest of the day it watches one number: your time in your apps, against your own 7-day average. not a target we picked for you. yours.

stay near it and your pet stays well. go well past it and it starts coming down with something — you can watch it happen, and a break still changes what the day means, right up until midnight.

let it go too long and it gets ill, then it puts up a wall, then it goes quiet altogether. it always comes back. there is always a way back.

NO SCORES

no streak to break. no points. no leaderboard. no shame.

the pet is the scoreboard: bright, tired, coming down with it, behind a wall, or gone. one step a day, in either direction. nothing moves faster than that, so nothing you do is ever unrecoverable.

and none of it is about you. the apps are the loud thing. you are the one who turns them off.

WHAT TREATS ARE FOR

the mystery box. fourteen things to find down there — a warm rock, a fallen star, a tape whose b-side is just rain. everything you find stands in the yard, and your pet uses the ones it likes. catch it mid-nap, mid- song, mid-workout when you open the app.

one of them is a camera. point it at your room and see the room the way your pet sees it, with your pet standing in it.

treats never buy screen time. that is the deal, and it does not bend.

every pet is grown from its own seed — its face, its ears, its colour, its name. nobody else has yours.

your average and today's total sit at the top of the screen whenever you open it. we will not let you set a limit, and we will not let you buy your way past one. the measurement is honest or it is nothing.

QUIET BY DESIGN

two notifications a day at most, and only when there is something true to say. your pet never names an app — down there it has no idea what any of them are called. it only knows you were gone.

your screen time is read on your phone and stays on your phone. no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no profile. nothing about you leaves the device.

offline pets needs Screen Time permission to feel how loud the phone is, and notifications so your pet can say good morning. it asks for both once, and tells you why.

OFFLINE+

offline pets is a subscription: $29.99 per year, with 3 free days for new subscribers, or $2.99 per week. payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation. it renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and you can manage or cancel it any time in your App Store account settings.
