insanely slept on. the global launch back in feb apparently had instability issues (unreal engine?!)—and reviews never got updated. i’ve played ~8 hrs on an iphone 16 pro with zero issues, even locked at 60 fps etc… i guess it gets hot after 3 hours or so? lol. this game is such a hidden gem! it reminds me of why i first started loving anime. it’s got so much heart… the unapologetic fanservice and chuuni aspects, and the humor and overall tone are all just such a breath of fresh air, after the endless sea of samey focus-group-tested meaningless overly-greebled designs and so on that i’m used to from big budget gachas… the designs are cute and punchy and provocative! and, okay, in genshin terms: imagine if instead of the traveler, characters just talked to You directly through the screen, so you never had to see or hear about any of protagonist-kun’s features… and literally all the playable characters are cute girls! and there’s no character changing/teleporting/whatever—your entire team is out and doing stuff simultaneously. i don’t even care about my healer constantly dying lately lol—one, kind of my fault, and two, it’s so much less lonely feeling than anything else i’ve tried. and i feel such affection for the writing and humor and stuff too—the idiosyncratic cute ways characters are dumb, or do awful things, or troll each other… like, ash is so, so dumb, and i love her so much for it, lol… and yeah, it’s a phone game, but the rates are shockingly generous. i’m definitely not like wanting for faves on my team. like, am i desperate to get ash? well, yes. but idk, all 4 of my current work girlfriends are really cute, so it’s not a big deal. i feel motivated for once, with one of these, for the first time since around when nikke launched. like, this must be how my ex felt about hsr and genshin and stuff—!! and i dunno how to emphasize the difference in how dead inside i was feeling trying to get back into zzz, the idea of trying to get into idk nte or endfield etc—which are all perfectly fine, perfectly serviceable gachas, some of the best of the best ofc! they’re very high quality! but gosh, what a criminally underrated gem abyssdia is. it’s so fun and cute and just… seemingly nobody in the west is talking about it or playing it! and that’s a huge shame.
